Some F.A.Q.s

Can you tell me a bit about The Buddy System presentation?
It is designed for Grades K to 5. This is a presentation composed of simple folk-oriented material that small children can relate to. Any number of students from one school can be entertained. This show is about 40 minutes long, with guitar, piano, harmonica, bass and vocals. The cost is in the Lower Mainland is $550.00. Costs for other parts of the province tend to vary, based on transporetation coast, the number of schools involved and other factors.

Is it necessary for my school to teach Violence Prevention?
No. We heartily recommend programs such as Second Step, The Virtues Project and Lions Quest that a great percentage of British Columbia schools teach. However, the aims of The Buddy System Program are general enough that any group of children can learn a lot in a fun environment. The songs are simple, and many feature sing-along choruses that are taught to them on the spot.

What about non-school shows?
The Buddy System has a public show similar in theme and spirit which incorporates more general material and is suitable for a wide range of ages. Please inquire about it. We have performed at many community centres and music festivals. We have made multiple appearances at the Vancouver International Children's Festival on four separate years.

Is there a limit to audience size?
No. Whatever number of children you can assemble in your gym or auditorium, we can captivate and entertain.

Are there any other charges?
No. The group has it's own sound system and all the equipment that is necessary to put on a professional quality children's show.

Do you perform outside of the greater Vancouver area?
Sure. There are additional charges for transportation and accomodation.

What do you do to help us prepare prior to your show?
Each K to 5 class in the school receives a copy of our 'Work It Out' CD which contains twelve songs from the show. You also get our Student Activity Book. It really enhances the effectiveness of the performance if the children are familiar with the material to some degree. It also allows for followup after the show is presented. Pamphlets and posters are included as well, to distribute around the school and inform staff and others of the show.
